I suppose that is why the adults have so many broods to make up for the fact that not many of the young make it to adulthood for one reason or another!
JJohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14873306254026879892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142825947393690787.post-67674211832308972132011-05-25T12:07:12.636+01:002011-05-25T12:07:12.636+01:00Young blackbirds always seem very vulnerable to me...Young blackbirds always seem very vulnerable to me John.Royhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14669756911857727253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142825947393690787.post-12614879794082924522011-05-24T22:07:59.926+01:002011-05-24T22:07:59.926+01:00Hi John,

The young Goldfinch looks like a completely different bird without its facial markings.

It was my first sighting of a Wall butterfly in the Peterborough area, a very lovely, if underated butterfly!
JJohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14873306254026879892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142825947393690787.post-64614702375723787172011-05-24T22:01:45.195+01:002011-05-24T22:01:45.195+01:00Hi Sally,

It shouldn`t be too long before you see young Blackbirds, what are you going to call the kids!?
JJohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14873306254026879892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142825947393690787.post-77062238651104903482011-05-24T14:59:38.686+01:002011-05-24T14:59:38.686+01:00Lovely photos of the little ones John. I always think how 'naked' the little Goldfinches look :) The bird food disappears as fast as I put it out here!

I somehow missed commenting on the previous post but did enjoy it. Well done on the Wall Butterfly, I have never seen one.ShySongbirdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08148381873578585910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142825947393690787.post-83700012540154198372011-05-24T14:56:55.412+01:002011-05-24T14:56:55.412+01:00It does seem to be a good breeding year all round....It does seem to be a good breeding year all round.Midmarsh Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10980417659811194899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2142825947393690787.post-60004195425476034822011-05-23T23:30:10.215+01:002011-05-23T23:30:10.215+01:00I so enjoy watching little birdlings grow up. And, of course, millions of those quarrelsome starlings with loads of their chicks too (although, one less thanks to our resident rat).

I’m looking forward to our blackbirds (Ajax and Cassandra) bringing their young to see us now.The Blogger Formerly Known Ashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04310345690134317710noreply@blogger.com
