Marbled White

I have seen one Marbled White butterfly this 'summer' and that was at Bedford Purlieus the other day. A very obliging individual who must have been getting fed up with being photographed as there were 4 of us standing around poking lenses at it! It stayed perfectly still for about half an hour and then it obviously had enough and was off.

Getting a bit more used to the camera now, but still a way to go.

  1. Lovely shots John.
They are beautiful butterflies, considering they're just black/brown and white. Such lovely markings.

Yes, I would probably be fed up if I had 4 camera lenses poking in my face!

  4. What a beauty, I love the looks of this butterfly very much! We have Zebra Swallowtails that fly so fast and they have similar colourations I believe. I have yet to get a good photo, ah, but one day~

    1. Indeed a beauty Mary. I have never taken a photo of a butterfly when they are flying, far to difficult! ;) I just wait until they rest on a plant or flower. I am sure that you will get a photo one day :)

  5. Lovely photos of a very photogenic flutter John. Oddly, I have seen more of them this year than for the last few years. I have seen them in three separate locations where I wasn't expecting to recently! Meadow Browns seem to be doing well also.

    1. Thanks Jan,
You are lucky in seeing lots, as I said, I have just seen the one, although I haven't paid a visit to their stronghold this year. I, too have seen plenty of Meadow Browns and also Ringlets.

Yes, a very tolerant little insect! I am sure that I would not be as tolerant in the same circumstances!
