I have seen one Marbled White butterfly this 'summer' and that was at Bedford Purlieus the other day. A very obliging individual who must have been getting fed up with being photographed as there were 4 of us standing around poking lenses at it! It stayed perfectly still for about half an hour and then it obviously had enough and was off.
Getting a bit more used to the camera now, but still a way to go.
Lovely shots John.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful butterflies, considering they're just black/brown and white. Such lovely markings.
Thanks Keith,
DeleteThey are lovely little 'flutters' with very simple markings.
J
Beautiful clear shots without any noise John.
ReplyDeleteHowever a totally fed up Marbled White.{:)
Thanks Roy,
DeleteYes, I would probably be fed up if I had 4 camera lenses poking in my face!
J
Beautiful creature! (Not you, the butterfly)

What a beauty, I love the looks of this butterfly very much! We have Zebra Swallowtails that fly so fast and they have similar colourations I believe. I have yet to get a good photo, ah, but one day~
ReplyDeleteIndeed a beauty Mary. I have never taken a photo of a butterfly when they are flying, far to difficult! ;) I just wait until they rest on a plant or flower. I am sure that you will get a photo one day :)

Lovely photos of a very photogenic flutter John. Oddly, I have seen more of them this year than for the last few years. I have seen them in three separate locations where I wasn't expecting to recently! Meadow Browns seem to be doing well also.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jan,
DeleteYou are lucky in seeing lots, as I said, I have just seen the one, although I haven't paid a visit to their stronghold this year. I, too have seen plenty of Meadow Browns and also Ringlets.

I love this picture, great composition and beautiful subtle colours. This would make a great painting I think.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gillian,
DeleteIt's just a shame that I can't paint! ;)
J
Would you mind if I painted it?
DeleteOf course not, I would love to see the result.

Thanks Grace,
DeleteSomething a little bit different I suppose!
J
How wonderful to find such a cooperative subject, especially one this so lovely! Outstanding photos as the pretty purple perch is a wonderful addition to the scene! Cheers John!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tammy,
DeleteYes, a very tolerant little insect! I am sure that I would not be as tolerant in the same circumstances!
J
Love the butterfl . Tammy is right so coopertive, lovely to see you photos from another area of the world, so alike but so different.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit and the kind comment, maybe you will come back some day? ;)

J
