Finally a bird to add to my PBC year list of 2010! Having waited for what seems an age to add a `tick` this bird was found by Don Gardner yesterday morning. Number 169 for the year and (hopefully) counting.
The size was the most obvious thing. The Shag is a lot smaller than any Cormorant there. Also, you can make out the yellow bill, which is a feature of a juv Shag. This may sound obvious, but it just looks like a Shag. Hope thus helps, J
Would be interested to know how you differentiated it from the many Cormorants at Ferry Meadows?
