I knew it would happen, but it was still a disappointment when it did.
I came home from work today to see a couple of recently fledged Blue Tits sitting on my bird food stand looking forlorn. No visits were being made to the box situated on the back fence. My Blue Tits had fledged and for another year I had missed it! Two of the young did have the decency to hang around for a while, but they soon got fed up and flew into the trees never to be seen again. I will never know how many young managed to fledge, but hopefully however many there were, they will live long enough to become adult birds and themselves continue the species.
Never mind, you might catch them next year. Good photos.
ReplyDeleteAt least it happened John. Without your assitance they might not be here at all!

One thing is for sure John, they do tend to stick together and look after each other during the next few months.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame you missed the actual event John but I know you thought you probably would. However your photos show they fledged successfully which is great news and I'm sure they will visit again... when you are not there...of course :)
ReplyDeleteLovely captures!
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteI think I might get ovet it ;). Thanks for the kind words and the `Follow`.

Hi bazza,
ReplyDeleteI know, I am relieved that they did fledge after the moments with the cat and the fence nearly blowing down the other day with the strong winds we experienced!
J
Hi Roy,
ReplyDeleteHopefully they will keep an eye out for the local Sparrowhawk whose chicks I have just started hearing begging for food in the trees behind our garden!
J
Hi Jan,
ReplyDeleteThankyou. I am seeing a few young Blue Tits now in the garden, whether they are `mine` I don`t know, but there are obviously a fair few about!
J
So sorry you missed the main event, but the parts of the show you got to share have their own magic.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I was so entranced by your comment(about the Major Oak)that I had to know more. Forgive my ignorance but I had no idea that Sherwood Forest or Nottingham were actual, rather than fictional place. A google search later, I am SOO intrigued by it, that a visit to the Major Oak is now on my bucket list.
Hi Sally,
ReplyDeleteI think I will get over it ;).
The Major Oak is quite a sight, although you can`t actually go right up to it anymore as it is fenced off,Health and Safety you know! There is not a lot of Sherwood Forest left anymore, but what is left is full of these ancient oak trees, well worth a visit.
