Swallow

A few digiscoped shots of a couple of confiding Swallows from my recent visit to Frampton in Lincolnshire. These two birds were perched on the visitors centre and didn`t seem to mind the comings and goings of various binocular wearing and tripod clad birders.

  1. Greetings John,
Although the title of your posting tempted me to make some sort innuendo, I refrained :)
Swallows are a fine looking bird. Today I saw a crow on my chimney.
Have a peaceful day, my friend.

    1. I don`t know what you mean Gary! ;)
Swallows certainly are a good looking bird, as are Crows, as I am sure you noticed on your chimney!

  2. I've never seen a Swallow that's not airborne before. The beautiful colouring really shows in your photos.

    1. Thanks Bazza,
You do normally see them `swooping` over corn fields on a clear summers day, but sometimes they perch for you.

  4. You've caught the detail of every feather with these shots. I almost feel it will fly out of my computer screen!

Wouldn`t that be great if they could?! That would be a great invention!

    1. Thank you Mary,
We only get one type of Swallow here in the U.K., although we do get Martins and Swifts, which are also gorgeous birds.

    1. Thanks Jan, I would love to get one in flight, but it`s a bit hard with my digiscoping gear, the bird is just too fast!

  10. Beautiful photos, John! That last one is my favourite, makes me want to stroke it. (They might not mind comings and goings but I'll bet stroking is off the menu.)

    1. Thank you Omi,
I don`t think that they would let you get that near to them! ;)
