Mr and Mrs Blackcap
This pair of Blackcaps have been visiting the garden for the past week or so. First the male arrives to make sure everything is okay and then his mate flies in and feeds whilst he surveys the area and then finally feeds himself. Not stunningly rare to have these birds coming into the garden, but this is the first time an obvious pair has been seen. They are nesting close by, fingers crossed for some young of this lovely warbler to pay a visit in time.

Wonderful photos of them and how nice to have them in the garden too. They puzzled me at first, we only get one at a time. But I finally figured out that he was not an odd looking sparrow after all! Minerva x
ReplyDeleteThank you Minerva! Glad you were able to clear up the confusion, these small birds all look similar, don't they!?

Ditto, we have a nesting pair too, although they have been fighting over the feeders with a pair of long tailed tits and a very aggressive blue tit
ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte, The Blue Tits at this time of year seem to be extremely aggressive, perhaps they are desperate for food because they are nesting? The pair we have are scared off by most of the other birds in the garden, they seem very jumpy!

We've got them for the first time (a breeding pair) this year so they are rare for us. I'm a bit obsessive about them at the moment!
ReplyDeleteWe have never seen a pair in the garden before, just individuals, so this event is pretty rare for us too. Don't blame you for being obsessive, you get quite attached to the birds that come into your garden!

Lovely shots John. The pair I had seem to have moved on now. They never did arrive at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThanks John! You never know they may return with youngsters in tow! :)

Lovely captures John! Very nice visitors to have, I usually only see them in my garden in the winter. It would be great if you get youngsters eventually!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jan,
DeleteWe have had the odd individual in the garden during the winter months, but this is the first time a pair has been noted. I am hopeful of youngsters in due course.

Wonderful birds to see... I have seen a male in my garden a couple of times over the years but never a female.
ReplyDeleteLovely images.
Thanks Andrew,
DeleteWe have only ever seen a male before, so this is a first for us too!

Great shots John. Let's hope they bring the kids along soon, for a family feast. That would be excellent.
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith!
DeleteFingers crossed that they are successful! If so, I will try and get some shots of the family.

What a great set John.
ReplyDeleteThanks Roy, too kind.
