Barn Owl at Eldernell, Cambridgeshire

Taken on different days, but I am pretty sure they are all of the same bird that can be told from the other two Barn Owls that are present at this site by its' dark colouration on the back.

    1. Thanks Roy! We are pretty lucky around here that we have got some good spots for them, aren't we?!

    2. Yes although I have not seen any up around Etton area lately. Use to see them fly along the river and you could get some shots from the bridge.

    3. There was one on the reserve over the summer that had taken up residence in the Barn Owl box that has been put there by the Langdyke Trust. The trust were hoping the box would lead to breeding, fingers crossed.

  4. Nice to see one in daylight John. Mine is still waiting for night fall before appearing.

    1. This one seems to appear around 3pm at the moment, although that may change as the daylight hours eek out a bit more Mike.

  5. Brilliant flight shots John. I only ever seem to see them at twilight and when I'm driving on a road which is too busy to safely stop.

    1. Thanks John! I hope that there haven't been any Barn Owl casualties on that road!

  6. In the third picture she (he?) seems to be about to surprise an unsuspecting small rodent!

    1. Hi Bazza! He or she (I think it's pretty hard to tell the difference in Barn Owls!) was indeed just about to pounce, but came up empty handed, or should that be taloned? this time!
