Polly
A couple of weeks ago we had a parrot visiting our garden in Werrington for about a week. It had been seen in the area since before Christmas according to our local vet, but nobody had reported him/her missing. Obviously a hardy bird given the weather we had over winter. It has since moved on to pastures new.
It was identified as a Yellow-crowned Amazon.

Spring has sprung
Over this last week Spring has definately sprung in the PBC area. Last Saturday (17th April) I found a drake Green-winged Teal at Maxey GP. This is the second one that I have found at the site, obviously a lucky bird for me! Also, on Sunday (18th) Don Gardener found a corking male Redstart at Ferry Meadows CP, on Monday (19th) Mike Weedon found 2 Black-winged Terns in full summer plumage and whilst I was viewing these my first Swift of the year flew over. Other Restarts have been found by Mike and Brian Stone and then on Thursday (22nd) Don found a male Ring Ouzel at Castor Mill, along with another Redstart. What a week!
I managed to get a photo of the Ring Ouzel, bit rubbish against the light though, but at least you can see what it is!
At last!
I have finally created my own blog after months of thinking about it! On here there will be mostly photgraphs of our feathered friends with maybe a few other things thrown in for good measure!
