Black-tailed Godwit

Another set of `digiscoped` images from my recent trip to north Norfolk of which I am quite pleased.

I don`t know whether it is the large number of visitors that Titchwell has that makes the birds quite relaxed, but you are able to get quite close without seeming to disturb them. This lends itself to being able to get half-decent shots like the ones above.

  1. They are some superb shots John. That first one is really special.
Yes, Titchwell can be really productive sometimes.

  2. Incredible pictures of the Godwit. Tell me, what type of lens do you use digiscopeing with?

  3. I never tire of seeing these wonderful waders..

Lovely images John you have really mastered the art of digiscoping.

I am friends with Jason aka Horukuru (his blog is Birders Of Sabah Borneo Island) who has just had Nikon Vision Japan use 6 of his images on their Nikon EDG website.

  6. Thanks Roy,
You are too kind! You seem to be able to get so close to the birds at Titchwell, I reckon they are tame! ;)

  7. Hi Bob,
Thank you. It`s just an old Canon Powershot A640 camera put against the eyepiece of my Kowa TSN-883 `scope, nothing more fancy than that really!

  9. Hi Grace,
Thank you. They look so elegant and graceful don`t they? Those carved birds you talk of are expensive aren`t they?!

  11. Hello John. Have you ever thought of writing a book on British birds. I have several but your photography is better than all of them!

  12. These are beautiful shots. Isn't it wonderful when you can get close enough like that? I've been frustrated in attempts to find and photograph birds lately, so it's really nice to be able to live vicariously and enjoy your photographs. Happy holidays, John.

  13. Hi John, Titchwell is a great, I've only been there once with a camera, if I could get some shots like that when I go again I would be very pleased :-)

  14. Hi bazza,
Many thanks for your extremely kind words, but no, I haven`t thought of writing a book. My photos really aren`t that good, not when you compare them with the pro`s!

  15. Hi Susan,
Thank you. It is a frustrating time for seeing birds, I am having to travel to get to see things a little bit different. The shorter daylight hours we are having in the U.K. at the moment means less time for birding!
    Happy Christmas to you too!

It is worth the visit, although you have a few decent sites on your doorstep as well!
